My parents' in law true colors came thru last summer with the arrival of our baby. When they visited at 2 wks, they were selfish, rude, and they wanted to run our household. eg. they took the baby for a stroll in a new stroller we hadn't even used for 1 hr w/out asking, just b/c they wanted so. For Xmas, we preferred not to travel 1200mi(by car) b/c we wanted to catch up on sleep and avoid stress of seeing them. 2 weeks ago, my DH forgot to send his mother a bday card but called instead (we had a sick baby %26amp; we both work full time). When DH called, he got an earful from his retired father (45 mins of yelling, stating disappointment b/c of my DH's "lack of responsibility,a bad person, a bad son, a disgrace, a worthless human being, and needing mental help." Now, DH's brother invited all to join them for Easter. My DH is leaning towards not going but instead invite his brother up to see us, or visit him another time with our baby. What would you recommend?Any experience out there? tx
What to do about parents-in-law and Easter?
Visit another time with the BIL. Your inlaws sound unstable.
Reply:Its sounds like all of you are selfish and self-absorbed.
There are never going to be any winners in this, you all think your too important to be wrong about anything.
Reply:Your and your husband needs to decide if traveling with a young child is best to go see the family for Easter. If you go, let them lavish as much love on the baby and don't let it bother you. It's only for a few days. Before you go, your husband needs to tell his dad no more outbursts, or you are not coming. Also, when they visit, you have to allow them the excitement of seeing their grandchild.
Secondly, do not compete with his parents by also inviting family members to your haouse for the same date. That will start WWIII.
Putting up with you in-laws' quirks is part of marriage. If there is a serious problem it is up to your husband to stand up and correct it.
Reply:they need to book a hotel...and you say your household is run by you and make a plan for a cookout at 1pm....they can find their own breakfast each day....3 days is enough
Perfect semi formal makeup
