Similar circumstances for Easter?

In laws live 10 minutes from us. Haven't seen them for 3 months myself, but husband does. The amount of efforts I have done for her, haven't even done for my own family who live away. Easter's round the corner, and got a present - chocolages and card to send with the husband. Have you had any experience like this not seing your in laws for those special days of Easter? I am tired to make efforts for Christmases and Easters and whenever visiting her own house, I get the sarcastic, critical dominant and opinionated crititisism, I am too young to loose my hair for her who does nothing else but treats me like a ****! For me, she's always looked like ****, but I still respected her. I am too tired to do so now.

Similar circumstances for Easter?
Can't help you on this one except to say you can not select your in-laws and family, but thank God you can pick your friends.

Reply:Yes, I was in this same situation for 6 years....my family and I lived in TX...and just a few blocks from his parents...my family ALL lived out of state! We didn't get to go home every year...so most of the holidays over those years were spent with his family. I did 90% of the work, cooking, always did the cleaning up ...no matters who's house it was....she always found a way to get out of it...hosted them at my house a little more than 1/2 the time! Her house was always a disaster....and the rest of the family (his brothers and their families) would ask to have it at our house....there was more room and more to entertain the kids, and clean. I bent over backwards to make holidays great....I love to host and love to cook, so I didn't mind....but I did mind when I got nothing but critism or I wasn't making what she thought I should make or we were eating too early or too late in her opinion...something was always wrong...and yeah, it made me bitter because I would have rather have been home with my family who I know would not have found fault with everything! We have since moved back home closer to my family...and we are all happier....even her son! I'm not saying you have to move, but you deserve to be able to enjoy the true meaning of the holiday and your family...not what she dishes out to you!
