Easter gift from in-laws was cut off chocolate bunny head only!!! No card, no gift, just a gnawed off head!?

I was sick on Easter, so I was not able to go with my husband to my in-laws. They had a big chocolate bunny and ate most of it, but decided to save the head of it for me.

Have you ever received such a present?

Easter gift from in-laws was cut off chocolate bunny head only!!! No card, no gift, just a gnawed off head!?
Regardless of how tasteless any gift may be, etiquette requires that one should still submit a note or thank-you card.

So buy them a 50 cent thank you card, tear it in half, and cheerfully give it to your inlaws.
Reply:I guess just be thankful they didn't save you the other end - ya know??
Reply:i think they like you loads. and missed your company.
Reply:maybe they think the head is the best part so they saved it for you. Not everyone gives presents on Easter its not Christmas. I wouldn't expect anything maybe your over analyzing.
Reply:Maybe you are mistaken... about their intentions.

Since the huge Easter bunny was meant to be shared... thus leaving the bunny's head for you is considered a huge respect from your in-laws.

I am kinda superstitious myself. I always encourage my partner to eat the HEAD of gingerbread man, animal pastries etc... while i eat the tail.

The Head represents top, 1st... etc... of cos I hope the very best for my partner.

I remembered my parents eating the tail of the fish or parts that we kids would not fancy... thus leaving us with all the juicy and fleshy parts to gnaw.
Reply:At least it was a chocolate bunny, not a real one.
Reply:No I never had a gift like that. I don't know what to make of it. I mean if they wanted to share Easter with you and give you a gift, it should have been the whole bunny. Not just a gnawed off head. Sound like your in-laws are the Addams Family !!! And I take it your hubby brought this gnawed off head home from the in-laws. Are you sure he didn't eat the rest of the bunny on the way home? lol
Reply:never had one like that ,but i don't think they like you so sad
Reply:I would have to say no...Sounds kinda sweet...unless they put it under your pillow LOL Hope you are feeling better.
Reply:sounds like a watered-down verson of the horse-head-in-the-bed trick from the Godfather.....
Reply:Not sure its polite to get head on Easter
Reply:I must admit that this gesture of your in-laws made me laugh to tears!

I do not believe they had any intention of being rude or something. Do not consider it as a "present", rather a share of their getting all together.

Maybe because you were sick, you were quite vulnerable and overcritical. See the good (and funny!) side of the whole matter. Next Easter you give them half chocolate egg!
Reply:They should have sent you the bunny's butt since you obviously can't see they were trying to be thoughtful and send you some chocolate candy to make you feel better and let you know you were thought of and missed on this special day.
Reply:at least it was not a horses' head in the bed
Reply:No, no i can't say that I have. But ya know, my opinion is that you should sit down have a nice little heart-to-heart with your inlaws. I am not one to judge, but I think your in-laws have some serious issues with you. Or you know, they just are extremely inconsiderate.
Reply:Oh my God, that's funny!!!!! Didn't you laugh???

I'm sorry you were sick. If I got a gnawed-off bunny head I'm not sure I'd feel any better . . . .

Mabe they were trying to make you laugh???

In-laws take some getting used to, yo.
Reply:at least they gave you the head and not the butt part.
Reply:I think that easter isn't really a gift giving holiday -- and that anything should be appreciated -- do they not like you at all? If they do then just take it as they were thinking of you by giving you the rest of desert.
Reply:It sounds like they may not be your biggest fan or they were offended you didn't show up. Have you guys been married long? Although I never received the "gnawed head" as a gift, I've gotten some other lame gifts through out the last 5 years. The gifts got better when we got closer as a family.
Reply:No and I think that is very inconsiderate of ur husband. ~SMACK, SMACK~ ;-)
Reply:No. I don't know if that was good or bad. What type of people are your in-laws? Funny, humorous and light-hearted folks?

OR

Sarcastic, negative, harmful types?

What did your husband say about it? Do you feel it was a scary or funny gift? Make some notes, sit down with your hubby and ask him what his parents had in mind by sending the severed head of a chocolate bunny.
Reply:no but that sounds quirky and adorable.
Reply:Oh my gosh..thats awful, but , at least you didnt have to go to their house and ruin you day!! Think of it that way!! You could always cut off the edges and eat the rest of the bunny too..unless you are afraid that they licked it..then I would just be happy that you didnt have to spend time with them!,,I hope you are feeling better today!
Reply:No but that's either hysterical or scarey...you must decide!
Reply:HAhahahaha, that's funny!
Reply:My sister gave my wife a plastic water pitcher once. It was used too. Classy
Reply:I think they were probably just sending home some chocolate for you. Don't take it too seriously, besides, its kind of funny. But I don't know you're in laws or what kind of sense of humor they have. Have a good one.
Reply:It actually sounds funny! I mean at least they were thinking of you while you were not present! I mean easter gifts for adults are not commonly exchanged anyways so I wouldn't feel miffed on not getting a gift, it's not Christmas anyways. I would just be happy they thought of you!
Reply:that was rude
Reply:Thats funny!
