Easter Basket for my 17-1/2 Year Old Son?

My son is 17-1/2 years old and I have NO idea what to put in his Easter basket this year. I don't want to spend more than $20 or so. (I've already gotten a $20 Walmart gift card and a $20 McDonalds gift card.) Now, I just need some little inexpensive things to put in his basket.

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated!

Easter Basket for my 17-1/2 Year Old Son?
I agree, your children are never too old for an Easter basket. I'm 42 years old and my parents still send stuff for Easter. Along with the Walmart card and McDonald's card, I think I'd put in some candy and maybe a few toiletries. Hope he enjoys!!!
Reply:I still give my adult children a basket, too. My oldest boy usually gets some money, a candy stash, and a t-shirt or magazine/book.
Reply:I am 21 and I make easter baskets for my very good friends back home

CDs, snack food, socks, every type of candy, a kaychain, a DVD, whatever you think he would like and need
Reply:Candy would always be nice and cheap to be fillers. Batteries for his CD player, DVD's , CD'S, deck of cards, games, on the road games, some shades. If he's into shoes then shoelaces and shoe cleaners. Almost anything is possible just depending on what he likes. :)

And to the person above, no 17 1/2 is not too old for an easter basket. I'm 17 and every year so far [and planning to do it this year] I've made baskets for all my friends and also recieved baskets from my older sister. Easter isn't just for kids and it doesn't just have to be candy. It's a time for having a good time with the people you love.
Reply:This is actually a very good question. Mine are 18 and 19 and I dont know what to put in there either! I do know its time to down size the huge baskets Ive been using for years!!

Not much but candy to put in for 20$ though. My son loves cologne and its 65$ a bottle! The little stinker...actually he smells very nice LOL

You could put small things for his car. Air freshener or whatever. Gum, I always do sugar free gum, dental floss and a tooth brush for Easter as well. Gotta love those pearly whites!

Take care, you sound like a super mom and I wish they were all like you....I know I am!

=)

Ya know all the people here putting you down for being a good mom to your son, I bet ALL of them would be tickled pink if someone thought enough of them to put together a cute basket on Easter. Whats wrong with thinking of someone? Or loving your child? LOL Some people need to just relax....or become mothers themselves.
Reply:you are like me i still give my teens an Easter basket and i give on to my b/f i put in things like

music Cd's

gift cards

movies

jewelry

key chains

collectibles (dragon, star wars figures) what ever the child is into

collator cards

i hope these ideas help
Reply:my son enjoys getting little snacks he can take with him in his gym bag or when he goes to play golf. consider some single serve bags of chips or some energy bars. bags of nuts or sunflower seeds are also good.

chocolate bunnies are essential. we also give the marshmallow peeps.

we also give joke gifts like wild ties and sox that don't match anything.

one year, as a joke, I gave the traditional candy and stuff but tucked in a new toothbrush! It was a cartoon character electric/battery brush and it was a hit with the whole family (sort of a "eat your candy, but be sure and brush" thing)

and, by the way, 17 year old boys need to be loved.

there isn't an age at which showing love is inappropriate - so fill up that basket!!
Reply:just get him some candy and maybe a gag gift.... or like an inexpensive comp/game system (play station, x box, ect.) game.... some r pretty cheap..... if u have a store called "five below" near u go there..... they have gag gifts and comp games all for $5 or less......
Reply:The gift cards are great ideas, my mom used to put money and phone cards in mine. Also candy is something you are never to old for!!!

Also if he has a sense of humor get him a match box car. He may find it cute.
Reply:you know... i have an 18 year old brother and he was 17 last year and he was just like whatever about it.... same as christmas. lol. but maybe your son is different. but i agree with candy! my boyfriend is 23 and he still loves candy as gifts. in fact, thats about the only thing i even get a reaction to. i gave him a jacket as a gift and i know he liked it, but he leaned toward the candy alot faster! lol! the second girls answer is good!

DONT FORGET THE EASTER EGGS! hehee
Reply:hey i am 22 and my mother still gives me one!! i love them, she just puts candy and a stuffed bunny in it like she always has. i am a candy junkie so that might be why she never changed it:) it's smaller than it used to be but i love i just the same peanut butter eggs mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.............................
Reply:Candy, movie tickets, car magazines, books if he likes to read, sun glasses, a basketball, if he plays sports get him some sports gear, a deck of cards, a gift certificate for gas or car cleaning, money.

I got an easter basket up until I was like 17 too, I loved it!!
Reply:r u crazy? dat boy is too old 2 b tryna have an easter basket. um when r u gon let him grow up???????
Reply:Hey You know as a father, I love giving gifts to my kids. We still celebrate Easter, one thing I will put in an Easter Basket when I give them either to my son who is 25 or to a member of my church. A Small Bible is a great addition to the Easter Basket. Jesus is the real reason we celebrate Easter because he was the gift for all of us and he arose from the grave on the third day and ascended into Heaven. He gave up his life so we may have life. Find a copy of the Easter Story and give that to him. God Be With You.
Reply:Agreed that was very rude....I am 18 years old and I love getting Easter Baskets. So yes you are doing the right thing good for you!!!!!!

Anyway, stick to the basics, bring the old with the new.....i love it when my mom gives me candy that i grew up with its the best thing ever.....hehe maybe a gift card or wrapped small gift!!! if he is respectful and loves you don't be afriad of looking silly...he won't make fun of you!!!
Reply:I the gift certificates are a great idea! Batteries too. He might also like something personal from you. Make him a small scrapbook of him and his friends, or burn a CD of his favorite songs.
Reply:17 is definately too OLD for an Easter basket!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just give him the gift cards and move on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Once my grand daughters reach 13 - the Easter baskets will end.
