I bought some Christmas cards from my son's school?

Inside them they all say merry everything ,happy alway's

one of the other parents told me this is because they have kids that are from other country's in the school and they dont celebrate Christmas. I also noticed at Easter that they had spring break not Easter. What do you think of this is it wrong or right to do this not to offend those that dont celebrate?

I bought some Christmas cards from my son's school?
I don't think it is right, You bought Christmas cards, not merry everything or happy always. I think if these people don't believe in Christmas they should go back to their own countries. They probably knew before they came over here that we celebrate the holidays that concern Christ. It iratates me when these people complain. Just this week a foreginer threathen to sue an airport in NY because it had a Christmas tree up and decorated. They had to take it down. But, last week, he withdrew his threat. They should go along with us or just ignore it. I would not buy any more cards from that school........
Reply:Other religions are always complaining that we don't follow there religions. When we do. We bend over backwards for them. I myself think it is ludicrous. Our country is a mainly protestant/catholic country. Now even saying Merry Christmas is being banned If we went to a mainly Muslim country we wouldn't be able to build a catholic church and have pictures of Jesus or crucifixes outside. Our Government is too soft.
Reply:I understant that some do not celibrate.. but they have to understand that they came to a country that was founded on GOD, it is in the government the schools.. to take it out now would be to go against everything our founding fathers faught for.
Reply:School is about learning and it doesn't involve learning religion because that is a personal choice. Is it fair to celebrate Christian holidays while other religious holidays get put aside? If all religious holidays were celebrated think how much attention it would take away from learning because there are so many holidays.

Think how some people might react if schools did celebrate all those holidays. If they did the pegan holiday winter solstice. How many Christians would be mad because they don't want their kids to learn things involving witches.

I really get tired of Christians making a fuss about it because they don't even stop to think of the other kids. When I was in school they still allowed Halloween and I remember one girl was not allowed to celebrate it. So instead of dressing up and swapping candy with the rest of the school she had to sit by herself in a classroom till it was all over. As much as I love Halloween that was unfair to her. No kid she feel left out.

For those of you who are saying America is founded on God and that people should go back to their own countries. America may have been founded by people who were religious. Let us not forget that America's laws state that each can choose their own religion. That church and state are seprate and school is under state. If you want to tell people to go back to their own countries why don't you start with yourself? Your ancestors came here and took over Native American land. Who by the way also have their own beliefs.
Reply:It falls under the term being "politically correct". It is never wrong to not want to offend people but you must stay true to yourself and your beliefs.

But in your case you did buy Christmas cards therefore they should have a Christmas greeting in them, after all this is why you purchased them, I think that the card company is wrong in this instance, those who don't participate in Christmas would not have purchased them in the first place. Happy holidays.
Reply:I think it's total bloody rubbish. I'm not a christian. I'm not offended by celebrating christmas or easter. I know lots of other none christians who aren't either. When I lived in England it was possible to by a Diwali card. I'm not a hindu either but that didn't offend me. It's just a load of politically correct twaddle!
Reply:It's political correctness gone mad.
Reply:If they don't like it , they can white out the word christmas and insert their holiday.
Reply:Personally, I think it's quite silly, and over-sensitive on the school's part - have they asked the non-Christians if they are offended? I bet not.

I don't think it's wrong - I just wouldn't buy them myself.
Reply:i dont think that you should send in any cards because if you send cards into the people who do celebrate X-mas the people who dont celebrate will feel left out.
Reply:I am a 51 yr old Australian woman and i have had a muslim boyfriend for 8 yrs. I celebrate Christmas, he doesn't. He is not offended that i do all the usuall Christmas stuff tho he doesn't agree with the belief. I respect his beliefs and try to understand his beliefs, he doesn't quite understand xmas but i do all my xmas stuff and i have said ,you choose to come to this country ,a a christian country) understand that this is a part of our culture. I respect that you don't wish to partake but we share the holidays. As far as the cards go , we are celebrating xmas so the cards should have xmas sayings on it, if the muslims, hindus or any other culture does not wish to celebrate xmas then that is their choice, if the school is sensitive to these cultures feeling separated from australians by not wanting to send xmas cards , then perhaps the school could supply a lot of cards especially for those children that say have a happy australian holiday. and keep average xmas cards for the australians. Speaking of xmas- santa has nothing to do with Christ and shouldn't schools ban cards with santa, I really don't think any one has the right answer but it is Australia and we are following the christian calendar so to speak, many are not christians but still send xmas cards as part of our culture. We repect new commers to our country and want them to fit in but why should we change our very own culture to preserve theirs. Don't we deserve respect for being different. Respect on both sides should be taught at schools, tolerance and intergration doesn't mean stop enjoying and following our own traditions. What's next, no smoke at the bbq?
Reply:Just part of Britain's gradual decline....check how many people are emigrating these days!!....so many do come back...but you get the point....this country is in free fall....what can we do about it....not much because of the antiquated political system.

I never thought I'd say this but an uprising might clear the air....trouble is the d******d element...ah well, kettle on....
Reply:It's the same at my daughters school, this is done because the school district want to be sensitive to others who dont celebrate Christmas.

I think it's great that the students learn about other religions and realize other family's spend Christmas break celebrating Kwanzaa or Hanuka and some don't celebrate at all.
Reply:I would get cards that say seasons greetings and have a beautiful Winter scene. Now me? I am a Christian and my cards have a very cute baby Jesus on the front. You have to remember- this is Christmas, an American Holiday that celebratesChrist- Santa came along later for the people that said they didn't want their children believing in a "god", but instead, a old man who gives out candy and presents if we sit on his lap? Hmm, aren't we trying to keep our kids from getting molested? You have rights. Follow your heart, and your beliefs. You may not believe what I do, and that is okay. I have celebrated many different custom holidays. And it is educational, and fun. Share our holiday with them! It is not a harmful thing to wish love, happiness, and a happy new year.
Reply:i think this is right because muslims and jews and stuff are always complaining that we don't respect their religion and now we are.
