Ideas for a children's Easter Bonnet?

Have just enroled by 4 year old at a new preschool group and discovered they are having an Easter bonnet competition tomorrow!! I am not the most artistic at the best of times, but I really am not sure what we can do, I want to do this with him, not make it look like I've done it! We have coloured card, felt tips, paint and glue, but not too much else any ideas appreciated, don't want to have to go out and raid an arts and craft shop this afternoon if i can possibly avoid it!

Whatever you do make sure you put a 'cross' symbol on it somewhere! After all that is what Easter is all about and if it is a competition it 'has' to win!
Reply:a nest containing cute painted eggs and chicks?
Reply:You may be able to cut the paper similar to a doily, or lace-like in appearance. A ribbon to help secure under the chin would be great, or maybe substitute a shoe string with maybe cut out flowers at the ends. Or simple flowers around the edge of the brim (paper and glued) Any lace around the house? I would use a baby's cradle cap as a shape or a circle tied on with a ribbon.
Reply:See the Easter Bunny at the bottom of the page made from a paper plate.

Reply:you could get a large circle of card and cut from one edge to the middle. Then fold the edges over each other to make a "coolie" style hat, stick it down. Paint, decorate and then stick ribbons to the underside to enable a bow to be tied.
Reply:Easter Bonnets

You will need a large paper plate. Decorate the top of the plate with flowers cut out of coloured paper, and other decorations and stick them onto the plate. Get some bright ribbon and staple to the sides. Then put your bonnet on.

If you are having a party or have many children playing then you could have your own Easter Parade.
